International trade
On the 1st of July 2017, the International Trade Regulation came into effect. This scheme offers the international business community the opportunity to temporarily bring foreign workers to the Netherlands for work that does not compete with the labor supply from the Netherlands and the EU.
For example, employees who are trained in working with new machines or giving training to employees of a customer of the Dutch company who is abroad.
Companies that want to be considered for the International Trade Regulation must first submit a request to the UWV for the admission of a trajectory with associated activities.
When a trajectory is allowed, the employer no longer has to apply for a work permit (TWV) for foreign employees involved in the trajectory. It is sufficient for the employer to register the employees at the UWV.
On the basis of the Regulation on International Trade, the IND can grant a temporary regular residence permit under the restriction ‘paid employment’, if it has been demonstrated that the employer’s route has been admitted to the scheme and the employer has notified the UWV about the employee. The residence permit can be granted and renewed for a maximum duration of 1 year.
